Plain Red Sweatshirt
I have a plain red sweatshirt that has been left at school. Our friends are not sure whom it belongs to. So, if you are missing one, please let me know.
When preparing snacks or treats to send in for all of our friends, please remember that our allergies include: peanuts, nuts, coconut and shellfish. Thanks for your help.
Continue to work on Dolch lists and High Frequency lists as review.
In math, we used non-standard units to measure objects. Our friends had fun using the cut out feet to measure items, as they looked for longer, shorter and the same size. We also acted out a trip to Kings Island with our teddy bear counters, as we learned how many different ways we could divide students up into groups. Drawing pictures helped us figure out story problems. Identifying a symmetrical design was fun and neat as we used paint and a butterfly to create our own butterfly. We read the story A Butterfly is Born by Melvin Berger and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
We worked on our little I See…, zoo books. All of our friends loved how the book showed the different animals by using the eyes they made for themselves at the back of the story.
We continue to learn about celebrate Mary during the month of May! The children have learned the words to the Hail Mary. We are saying this prayer at each Religion class. We read the book “Hail Mary” by Sabrina Bus to understand what each line of the Hail Mary is all about. We also learned about the rosary as a prayer to Mary and a way to think about moments of Jesus’ life. The children looked at and touched different kinds of rosaries. They colored a sheet with the correct colors for each prayer: 1 Our Father and 10 Hail Mary prayers. The students made rosaries on Wednesday with Mrs. Moulvi. Children picked their own color for his/her rosary. These rosaries will be blessed at Mass next Thursday. Each child made a special thank you card for her.
On Thursday, we also remembered Our Lady of Fatima. The students watched “The Day the Sun Danced,” and learned the true story of Fatima.
The students have brought home a sheet to practice the Hail Mary each day this week. They may turn this sheet in next Monday, if they wish.
Thursday was our last day for students to come to the library. I read Hooray for Diffendoofer Day! Thanks for a great year!
Thanks so much for all of your help to make this a team effort.
Enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you on Monday.
