  Physical Education Grading Rubric

 

The grading rubric for Physical Education is built around the core expectations of responsibility, attitude, and effort which we consider important in every child’s development. A student must achieve at least three checkmarks in a column of the rubric to earn the grade at the top of the column.

 

A or O

B or S+

C or S

D or N

The student always comes dressed appropriately for PE class and has earned NO uniform violations during the past quarter.

 

The student consistently comes dressed appropriately for PE class and has earned one to two uniform violations during the past quarter. 

The student demonstrates some inconsistency in coming dressed appropriately for PE class and has earned three or more uniform violations during the past quarter.

 

The student demonstrates a great deal of inconsistency in coming dressed appropriately for PE class and has earned five or more uniform violations during the past quarter.

 

The student always comes to PE class with a very positive attitude toward his/her classmates, the teacher, and the skill or game taught.

 

The student consistently comes to PE class with a positive attitude toward his/her classmates, the teacher, and the skill or game taught.

 

The student demonstrates some inconsistency in coming to PE class with a positive attitude toward his/her classmates, the teacher, and the skill or game taught.

 

The student demonstrates a great deal of inconsistency in coming to PE class with a positive attitude toward his/her classmates, the teacher, and the skill or game taught.

 

The student always displays a Christian attitude and is a model for others by treating others fairly; showing respect for others, including the teacher; being honest in playing a game or performing a skill; and reacting positively to situations or problems that arise within a game setting.

 

The student consistently displays a Christian attitude by treating others fairly; showing respect for others, including the teacher; being honest in playing a game or performing a skill; and reacting positively to situations or problems that arise within a game setting.

 

The student demonstrates some inconsistency in displaying a Christian attitude by failing, at times, to treat others fairly; show respect for others, including the teacher; be honest in playing a game or in performing a skill; or react positively to situations or problems that arise within a game setting.

The student always participates and shows outstanding effort in performing a skill (as outlined in the Graded Course of Study) or playing a game despite a possible inherited lack of skill.  In other words, the student displays an "I can do it" attitude no matter what skill is being asked of them.

 

The student consistently participates and shows good effort in performing a skill (as outlined in the Graded Course of Study) or playing a game, despite a possible inherited lack of skill.  In other words, the student displays an "I can do it" attitude no matter what skill is being asked of them.

 

The student demonstrates some inconsistency in participating and showing good effort in performing a skill (as outlined in the Graded Course of Study) or playing a game, despite a possible inherited lack of skill. The "I can do it" attitude no matter what skill is being asked of them needs some further development.
